The mediating role of psychological flexibility in the relationship between maladaptive perfectionism and cognitive and behavioural avoidance

Özet (EN)

The purpose of this research is to examine the mediating role of psychological flexibility in the relationship between maladaptive perfectionism and cognitive and behavioral avoidance. In this context, 341 people aged 18 and over participated in the research. ''Demographic Information Form'', ''Frost Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale'', ''Cognitive Behavioral Avoidance Scale'' and ''Psychological Flexibility Scale'' were used in the data collection process. In data analysis, descriptive statistics were used to describe participant characteristics. Pearson Correlation Analysis was used to examine the relationship between variables and Multiple Regression Analysis was used to examine the mediating role. According to the results of the analysis, maladaptive perfectionism had a negative and significant effect on psychological flexibility and a positive and significant effect on cognitive and behavioral avoidance. Psychological flexibility had a negative and significant effect on cognitive and behavioral avoidance. Psychological flexibility was found to play a mediating role in the relationship between maladaptive perfectionism and cognitive and behavioral avoidance.
