Abstract (EN)

Urban public spaces have been directly or indirectly influenced by the society they are in in every period of the historical process. The sense of publicity of people who lived their daily lives in a core environment until the Industrial Revolution was also formed in these environments, and since this period, the daily life routines of people have also changed due to intense urbanization. For the population that provides transportation between various functions such as work, education and housing in the city with vehicles, zoning has emerged in the cities, and modernism has been observed as a reflection of this process on architecture and planning. In the following process, the rapid development of technology witnessed a rapid transformation of the social structure, but the development of cities could not keep up with this change. In particular, public spaces, which can be seen as the mirror of societies, have experienced deficiencies in integrating in accordance with the new structure of societies. The aim of the thesis study is to measure the expectations of individuals who work remotely and receive education, who have a great place in the social structure, by measuring the relationships they have with the city and their immediate surroundings. In this context, in-depth interviews were conducted with people who live in the city of Ankara, which was selected as the field for the study, and who work remotely or receive training. With these interviews, first of all, people were asked to interpret how their daily lives were changed by the remote working and education processes. Afterwards, the statements of these people on Kızılay Square, which is accepted as the center of the city of Ankara, and its relations with its immediate surroundings, and the public transportation relationship between the neighborhoods they live in and the city center were examined. At the last stage, the current situation was observed by making comments of the individuals about the open and green areas within 15 minutes' walking distance of the residence and their examinations on the maps. With the thesis study, it has been seen that the city of Ankara has deficiencies in urban space arrangements that will strengthen the relations of individuals who spend long time in front of the screen, the urban relations established with public transportation are insufficient and the city center cannot respond to the expectations of the users to a large extent. In addition, it has been observed that there are deficiencies in terms of walkability, quality and quality, as well as the inability to respond to the needs and wishes of the people in the design and design of the open and green areas in the immediate vicinity of the residence.
