Abstract (EN)

In this research, it is aimed to specify the problems faced by UZEM principals during the urgent distance education process used due to the COVID-19 epidemic, to discover the strategies they developed to solve the problems, and to determine whether the problem solving approaches of UZEM principals differ according to their demographic characteristics. In this research, parallel mixed design which converges from mixed research methods was used. By collecting qualitative and quantitative data together, data analyzes were maden separately and it was checked White the findings confirm each other or not. In this work, by using homogeneous sampling which is one of the non-random sampling methods, in the spring term of the 2019-2020 academic year, 16 managers working as the Director of the Distance Education Research and Practice Center were selected as the sample. Demographic information form, problem solving inventory and distance education process evaluation questionnaire were used as data collection tools in the study. The data collection tools were prepared on Google Forms and sent to the participants via e-mail. According to the data obtained as a result of the research, it was found that UZEM managers faced with systemic problems, technological inadequacy, lack of personnel, equipment and environment inadequacy and planning disruptions during the KOVID-19 outbreak. It has been determined that UZEM managers use the strategies of cooperation, communication and support, patience, analysis and foresight to solve the problems they encounter. It was concluded that the problem solving approaches of the UZEM principals did not show a significant difference according to age, gender, and the duration of the UZEM directorate, but there was a significant difference according to the department graduated.
