The evaluation of the efficiency of distance education programs (Gazi University Informatics System Distance Education Sample for Non-Thesis Master Program)

The aim of this study is to make the evaluation of Gazi University informatics systems remote education non-thesis master program with the opinion of the students that are enrolled to this program and to get advice from the students about this program in order to develop it.At the research, litterateur scanning and inquiry technique was used as data collection device. Throughout the process of the research, it was projected by examining many resources which were published inland and abroad related to the topic and data collection device was developed.In the light of these methods the datas were collected seperately, analized and the datas obtained were brought together in conclusion. The environment of the research is composed of students who attend Gazi University informatics systems remote education non-thesis master program. There are 75 students at Gazi University informatics systems remote education non-thesis master program that constitute the study environment.As the information collection device, there is the survey form prepared to be applied to the students composed of 44 questions at total,11 at the first part, 33 questions at the second part.The survey form, in 2009-2010 education year reached to 62 person that followed the program and was applied to these students by the researcher. The information obtained in the result of the application of the survey form was given in cross charts and the frequency and in percentile zones of datas in order to determine the views of students about the program.As a result, most of the students attending Gazi University informatics systems remote education non-thesis master program stated that they might choose remote education program again in future.Despite the students notified positive opinions about the preparation and aim of the program, it is seen that a significant part had problems. While the students thought that the program was disqualified in terms of content, they have generally notified positive views about teaching processes, learning management system, method, teaching elements.The disqualification in both the participation of the students in an effective way to the learning process and the assistace they may get when they face a problem is regarded as the most disadventageous aspect of remote education system.By the way, the students stated that the program was disqualified in terms of applied courses, supplies and the feedback that was provided to them. In the light of these findings, the suggestions made by the researcher depending on the result of the research are given place.
