The effective web design model in distance learning and an application

After IT sector started to develop rapidly in our world and many developments were performed in education. One of these education applications is web based distance learning studies. With web based distance learning, students can determine their weak points and subjects that they misunderstood where ever or whenever they want, so they are able to make studies in order to increase their knowledge levels.Individual learning opportunity without time and place limitation is the advantage of web based distance learning. Web based distance learning, is defined as a teaching program formed by using the technological advantages of the internet and supported by computer technology. In web based distance learning, the interaction media is important for both checking the levels of the students and forming of the new knowledge. Learning process becomes effective, efficient and attractive by properly designed web based distance learning applications. High level learning opportunity is created especially by web based software providing multi-dimensional interaction and practicing opportunity.In this study, an effective distance learning information system was formed where roles of teacher and student are taken into consideration, in order to provide efficiency of distance learning. The system was designed as a dynamic and enjoyable learning media where students can carry on education without time and place limitation and where their interaction with the teachers are provided. Teachers who have the lesson and student list, are able to send any material, file and homework, can make exams and can evaluate the exam results. Also the administrator section that controls the system is another part of the system. The programs and technologies that were used during the designing of the system are; PHP, MySQL, Javascript, CSS, HTML, Sothink DHTML, Sothink Glanda 2004, Trendy Flash Intro Builder, Macromedia Dreamweaver.Key words: Distance learning, E-learning, Web based distance learning.
