Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, it is aimed to determine the effect of grape seed oil, an agro-industrial by-product, on the growth performance and body composition of a mirror carp (Cyprinus carpio) fry. For this purpose, five experimental diets withen same crude protein (36%), crude oil (8%) and energy (3650 kcal / kg digestible energy) values were prepared by supplementing 0% (control), 0,5%, 1%, 2% and 3% of grape seed oli in experimental diets. Three hundred mirror carp fry (initial weights of 3.65 ± 0.049 g and length of 6.2 ± 0.076 cm) were randomly alloted 5 dietary treatments. Each treatment had 3 replicates with 20 fish per aquarium of 60 L. Fish was fed to ad-libitum at twice a day for 84 days. At the end of the experiment, final weight gain, percent live weight gain, specific growth rate and feed conversion ratio values of the experimental group fish were similar in the other groups except the UCY-0,5 group (P> 0.05). The final body length, condition factor, total feed consumption, hepatosomatic index and viscerosomatic index values of the experiment group fish were not statistically significant differences(P> 0.05). The survival rates of all experimental group fish were similar (P>0.05). While there was no statistically significant differences between the chemical composition of the experimental group fish, significant differences were found in the fatty acid compositions of the fish flesh (P <0.05). Especially palmitic acid and stearic acid, which are saturated fatty acids, increased with the increase of grape seed oil in trial feeds and this increase was reflected in total saturated fatty acids. While linoleic acid, one of the polyunsaturated fatty acids, increased with the increase of grape seed oil, the highest values were obtained in UCY-0,5 and UCY-3 groups (P <0.05). Linolenic fatty acid values of UCY-0,5 and UCY-3 groups were similar to those of the control group and were higher than the other groups (P <0.05). Total polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) values of the experimental group fish increased with the increase of grape seed oil in the trial feed and the highest values were found in UCY-0,5 and UCY-3 groups (P <0.05). Total n3 PUFA values were determined in the highest UCY-0,5 group and total n6 PUFA values were obtained in UCY-0,5 and UCY-3 groups. The lowest atorogenic index values were found in UCY-0,5 and UCY-3 groups, while the lowest thrombogenic index was obtained in the UCY-0,5 and UCY-3 groups similar with control group. The hypocholostrolemic / hypercholostrolemic ratio of the UCY-0,5 and UCY-3 groups increased with the increase of grape seed oil in the trial feeds. In conclusion, it was found that supplementing up to 3% grape seed oil to the trial feeds had an effect on the growth performance and feed evaluation of the mirrored fry similar with the control group, however it had a significant and positive effect on the fish flesh fatty acid composition.
