Investigation of future markets and Turkish derivates exchange and a study about cotton producers? education

Tukish Derivatives Exchange, which is the first Derivatives Exchange ofTurkey has started its activities on February 4th 2005 has been established in order toprovide risk protection and goods future delivery contracts for the investors and thepossibility of more effective pricing of the products and production planning to theproducers. With ?VOB ? Ege Pamuk? Future Delivery contract being transacted inthe future delivery and option exchange, the producers, ginners, industrialists andtradesman acting in textile area have obtained an important risk management tool byprotecting themselves from the price fluctuations in the market.The purpose of the study is to measure the knowledge of cotton producersabout theTukish Derivatives Exchange and the products of the Exchange and todetermine the needs for training about the Exchange. For this reason, area researchmethod has been applied with face to face questionnaire application in this study.The universe of the research is the cotton producers in İzmir, Manisa andAydın provinces and the sampling group is 315 people consisting of the cottonproducers and cotton users.In the statistical analysis of the research data, Ki ? square independence test(at ?=0.05 significance level) and single factor (direction) variance analysis havebeen used. In case the value ?F? found as the result of single ? factor (direction)variance analysis is significant, ?Tukey Test? has been applied in order to decidebetween the averages of which groups this difference is. For controlling thesignificance between the groups, the fault tolerance has been taken as 0.05.As the result of the study, it has been seen that the cotton producers and theparties using the cotton do not have knowledge about the Tukish DerivativesExchange and the products of the Exchange and that they do not know the benefit theivexchange will provide for them and therefore they needed training about the productsof the Exchange.
