Evaluation of the agents determined in women patients with vaginal discharge complaint

Like cervical infections, vaginal infections are important in terms of providing basis for upper genital system infections. This study has been conducted with the aim of evaluation of the distribution of agents in patients with vaginal discharge/itching complaints and control group that have no complaint. Swap samples obtained from cervical canal of the patients with cervical discharge/itching complaint, non-pregnant, do not have antibiotic usage history within the last 10 days, taken enough sample (at least 2 swap samples) and accepted to give sample were included into the study. The study was conducted with a total of 105 patients between 18-56 ages. Forty patients that do not have vaginal discharge/itching complaint, applied to polyclinics with different complaints and other properties similar to the study group were taken as control group. Direct microscopic investigation, gram staining and culture were done. Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Trichomonas vaginalis were investigated molecularly with BD-MAX (Becton-Dickinson, USA) PCR device using genital panel cartridges. For cultivation sheep blood agar, chocolate agar, sabouraud dextrose agar and eosin-methylenblue agar were used. Broker MS (Becton Dickinson, USA) was used for identification of breeding microorganisms. The presence of lactobacilli, diphtheroids, alphahaemolytic streptococci, coagulasenegative staphylococci (CNS) considered as normal flora. The bacteria determined dominantly in the plaque except these bacteria were identified. The distribution of the microorganisms determined from the patient in study and control groups found respectively as; normal flora 44 (% 41.9), 23 (% 57.5); Candida spp. 43 (%41.0), 10 (%25); Gardnerella vaginalis 17 (%16.2), 1 (%2.5); Escherichia coli 10 (%9.5), 4 (%10); Streptococcus agalactiae 11 (%10.5), 0; Trichomonas vaginalis 6 (%5.7), 0; Klebsiella pneumoniae 3 (%2.9), 2 (%5); Staphylococcus aureus 4 (%3.8), 0; Neisseria gonorrhaea 2 (%1.9), 0. Lower genital system infections should be evaluated rationally and rapidly since these may have complications.
