Waqf and Ibtida Disputes Comparative Analysis between the Mushaf of the Presidency of Religious Affairs of Turkey and the Mushaf of Medina Omar YAKAN Ph.D. Department of Qur'an Reading and Qur'an Science Supervisor: Assist. Prof. Aydın KUDAT July 2024, 500 Pages The science of waqf and ibtidā has an important place among the Qur'anic sciences since it has a great influence on the understanding of the Qur'anic text and the harmony and order of the verses. Accordingly, this study deals with the subject of waqf and ibtida by making comparisons and analyzes. The study analyzes the grammatical and qiraat aspects of waqf and ibtida, taking into account the views of the leading scholars of this field, and presents the different views of the scholars. Then, the types of the phenomenon of waqf and ibtida were explained and the places of waqf in the Qur'an were revealed. In the context of wakf and ibtida, the Mushaf approved by the Turkish Religious Foundation and the Medina Mushaf, which was inspected by a special commission and approved by the King Fahd Complex Printing House, were compared. The study consists of an introduction, four chapters and a conclusion. In the introduction, the importance of the subject, the reasons for its choice, its method and aims are mentioned. In the first chapter, the nature of the science of waqf, its origin and importance, its principles and opinions, the reasons for the differences in the places of waqf, the influence of the science of waqf on the sharī'ah sciences and its influence on them, and the methods of the writings on this science are discussed. In the second chapter, the differences between the Mushaf of Madinah and the Mushaf of Diyanet are discussed by referring to the commissions that supervised the Mushafs and the basic sources and qiraats on which they were based. In the third chapter, all the waqf places in the two Mushafs are brought together and compared according to the waqf scholars and shown in tables. These tables include all suras of the Holy Qur'an from Surah Fatiha to Surah Nās. In the fourth part, the places specific to each Mushaf are listed separately, the waqf places in Baqara are discussed in detail, and the waqf places in other suras are given in general tables.
