This study covers the cities of Van and Bitlis, which have a coast on Lake Van, and their counties and villages, between the years of 2008-2012. So in this study compilations are made from especially the cities of Van and Bitlis in the basin of Lake Van; from the counties of Erciş, Ahlat, Adilcevaz, Bitlis, Gevaş and Edremit; Karpuzalanı, Kavuncu, Karagündüz, Alaköy, Mollakasım villages of Van; Erik Bağı and Yıldız villages of Adilcevaz; Çatal ağzı and Uludere villages of Ahlat; the town of Çelebi Bağı of Erciş. This study, summed up in the title of ?The Dialects of Lake Van Basin? includes the sections of ?Introduction, Phonetics, Morphology, Texts and Dictionary?.The deciphered products of the language are interpreted with a simultaneous point of view. In many parts of the study, the similarities between the dialect of this region and other Eastern dialects are figured in a comparative way in the footnotes. As the products of language in this region have the characteristics of Azerbaijani Language, the cases that have similar traits with Turkmen and Kıpczak accents are indicated in concerned parts of the study.In Phonetics section appear the vowels that do not exist in written language, vowel harmony, vowel change, charts about vowels and maps reflecting the traits of vowels. In consonant section exist the consonants that do not exist in written language, phonetic changes about consonants and consonant changes.In morphology section appear derivational affixes, verbs, verbal, inflectional affixes, pronouns, adverbs, prepositions, and maps reflecting the affixes that are phonetically different from Standard Turkish.Dictionary section includes phonetically changed words which appear in our texts but do not exist in standard Turkish.Most of the works shown in bibliography section are used or analyzed and some of them are mentioned owing to their relationship with the topic.While transcribing the documents we listened, we used The Dialect Transcription System provided by Turkish Language Agency for the transcription system. For our texts to be well-supported and complete, the speakers were chosen meticulously. During this study 118 people were interviewed for compilation. The people from whom we made the compilations are the ones who carry the main features of the dialect, are generally primary school graduate or illiterate and over fifty.Key Words: Dialects, language, morphology, phonetics, eastern dialects.
