Determination of van auto industry employees' awareness of using personal protective equipment

Occupational health and safety should be the top priority of every workplace. Increasing the awareness of Van Auto Industry employees in using personal protective equipment and raising occupational safety standards is of vital importance for the health and safety of workers. This study aims to minimize work accidents and health problems by ensuring that employees are more aware and prepared for potential dangers. The correct use of personal protective equipment by workers is a critical step in developing a safe working culture in the workplace and making employees more conscious of their health and safety. This study, which was conducted to understand the consciousness and experience of workers working in the auto industry in Van province regarding occupational health and safety and the use of personal protective equipment, and to examine their awareness of personal protective equipment, is based on a comprehensive survey. Within the scope of the study, survey questions focusing on important issues such as workers' personal protective equipment usage habits, occupational health and safety training they received, personal protective equipment training and the relationship between work accidents and personal protective equipment were developed and applied among employees. The study was conducted with 250 employees. The analysis of the data obtained in the study was made using the SPSS 22 program. P<0.05 was accepted as significance. According to the results of the study, it was determined that the occupational health and safety training given to workers was insufficient. Additionally, it has been observed that as the education level of employees increases, the rate of personal protective equipment use increases and the rate of accidents decreases. Additionally, it has been determined that most employees work in non-ergonomic conditions and therefore avoid using personal protective equipment. As a result of this study, employees should be trained on the benefits of personal protective equipment.
