Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to understand the extent of weed problem in vegetable cultivation in Van, and to understand the level of knowledge, experience and problems of the farmers in the fight against weeds. For this purpose, the data were obtained from the surveys conducted by face-to-face interviews with 200 vegetable growers in Van. As a result of the surveys, it was understood that the producers made their livelihoods for their livelihoods, their education levels were low in general, they did not participate in the activities related to agriculture and they did not meet the agricultural organizations adequately. Producers grow most tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers from vegetables; in addition, wheat, sugar beet, barley, alfalfa and potato are also sow in the same land. They stated that the most important problems in vegetable farming are market problems, followed by aquaculture and plant protection problems. In plant protection problems, they stated that they were the ones who complained about the most insect damage and weeds. n general, it was observed that the density of weed in the vegetable gardens was high, and that these were the most common among field vine leaves (Convolvulus arvensis L.), Lambs quarters (Chenopodium album L.) and purslane (Portulaca oleraceae L.). In the results of the survey, it was understood that the producers did not use herbicides, preferred more methods such as hand picking and hoeing in the struggle and they gave the decisions about the struggle themselves without consulting any place.
