Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted to determine heavy metal and nutrient contents of useful wild plants (, widely used for therapeutic purposes and distributed by three different locations (Ahlat, Gürpınar and Tatvan) in the Van Lake Basin. To figure out nutrient contents of metals and minerals, flowers of the the plants used for this study were Yarrow [Achillea millefolium L. (Asteraceae)], Kısalmahmut [Teucrium polium L.) and Broom [Centaurea virgata Lam. (Asteraceae)]; roots and soils of plants used for purpose were Stinging nettle [Urtica dioica L. (Urticaceae)] and Heliz [Prangos ferulacea L. (Apiaceae)]. Studied heavy metal and nutrient content in plant and soil were (As, Cd, Cr, Co, Ni,) and (K, Mg, Ca, Na, Fe, Mn, Zn, ve Cu), respectively. According to the results of the study, flower, root and soil samples contain macro and micro nutrients in varying amounts, and they are not toxic to human health in terms of heavy metal contents. According to different plant species, the highest K, Mg, Ca, Fe, Mn and Cu contents of Teucrium polium L., sodium and zinc contents were determined in Achillea millefolium L. flower samples. The lowest K, Ca and Na, Fe, Mn, Zn and Cu contents of Centaurea virgata L. and Mg contents of Achillea millefolium L. were detected in the flowers. As averages of useful wild plants examined, macro element contents of flower samples were followed by descending order of Ca> K> Mg> Na and micro element contents of Fe> Zn> Mn> Cu. The highest K, Ca, Na, Fe and Mn contents were determined in Cichorium intybus L. roots and Mg, Zn and Cu contents were determined in Prangos ferulacea L. root samples and the lowest values were found in the root samples. K, Mg, Ca, Na, Fe, Mn, Zn and Cu ratios were determined in Urtica dioica L. roots. As the average of useful wild plants examined, macro element contents of root samples were followed by descending order of K> Ca> Mg> Na and micro element contents of Fe> Zn> Mn> Cu. In the study, it was determined that heavy metal contents of plants and soils do not carry any risk for human health.
