Examination of citizens' perception of satisfaction with social municipalism services: A scale development study

This study was conducted to determine the satisfaction levels of adults living in Trabzon regarding the services offered within the scope of social municipality, to analyze the variations in these levels according to demographic and socio-economic characteristics, and to develop a valid and reliable measurement tool in this field. The quantitative research method and simple random sampling technique were utilised in the study. The data were obtained from 377 participants via a 47-item 5-point Likert-type scale developed to measure satisfaction with social municipal services. Following exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, the 'Perception of Satisfaction with Social Municipal Services Scale' was grouped under five sub-dimensions: disability, women, family-child, youth, and elderly welfare. The findings of the research demonstrated that the satisfaction levels of the participants were above average. A substantial relationship was identified between satisfaction perception and the number of children, education level, occupation group, and income-expense balance. It was determined that participants with elevated income levels, income that exceeded their expenses, and a smaller number of children, exhibited elevated levels of satisfaction. Another notable finding of the study is that the field of women's well-being has a multifaceted structure and is influenced by various factors, primarily individual and socioeconomic characteristics. The findings of this study provide a foundation for the development of future social service models by illuminating the fundamental dynamics that influence satisfaction with municipal social services.
