The opinions of Wahba az-Zuhaili about reported attributes

Wahbah az-Zuhaili (1932-2015), one of the scholars who grew up in the Arabian Peninsula in the last period, produced works in different fields such as fiqh, tafsir, hadith and Islamic history. Zuhaili, whose works have been translated into more than one language, has also been translated into Turkish in our country. In this study, Zuhaili's views on muteshabih (khabari) adjectives in his work named at-Tafseer al-Moneer are discussed. Mutashabih adjectives have been subjected to many interpretations from past to present. A scholar's views on mutashabih attributes give an idea about his mentality. In this context, the determination of Zuhaili's approach to mutashabih attributes in his work at-Tafseer al-Moneer, who is a good scholar of fiqh, will provide important contributions to the revealing of his mentality and to the field. The study consists of introduction, three chapters and conclusion. In the introduction, information is given about the subject, importance, purpose, method, sources, scope and limitations of the research. In the first chapter, Zuhaili's life, scientific personality, the period in which he lived and whether he had an understanding of Salafism were examined. In the second part, selbî adjectives, subûtî adjectives, verbal adjectives and mutashabih informal attributes are discussed. In this section, the approaches that interpret the mutashabih adjectives in the Qur'an and hadiths and those who do not consider it permissible to comment on these adjectives are mentioned. In the third chapter, Zuhaili's comments and views on mutashabih adjectives in at-Tafseer al-Moneer are presented. In the conclusion part, the findings and determinations revealed in the study are given.
