Protection of the Privacy of Children on Social Media Within the Scope of Custody In recent years, the internet, which has been one of the leading technological developments that deeply affects human life, provides users the opportunity to live virtual lives, especially through social media applications where personal sharing is possible. The posts shared by users who do not have sufficient awareness cause violations in terms of privacy and protection of personal data. Since children are not mature enough and are considered as beings that need to be protected, social platforms are an issue that should be handled more carefully in the context of the best interests of the child due to the posts shared by themselves and their parents or guardians, their teachers, doctors or completely unknown third parties. National and international legal regulations are needed to protect the privacy of the child's private life, especially in social media and the internet environment, in a way that does not conflict with the authority and responsibilities of the parents and guardians over the child. In this study, first of all, the concepts of child and custody are addressed, and the regulations regarding personal rights and social media in national and international regulations are examined, and sample cases showing the violations of the privacy of the child's private life on social media and the current legal consequences are discussed.
