Abstract (EN)
In this design-based study, it was aimed to develop a prototype of an augmented reality goggle-VentroSim-to be used for injection site detection in the ventrogluteal area. The Waterfall method (Analysis, Design, Development, Test, Integration) was used to develop the prototype of VentroSim. In the Analysis step of the study, 20 computed tomography images were evaluated and the software algorithm was configured with the estimated lengths and angles that would allow the ventrogluteal area to be visualized in the parallel plane. In the design phase, the requirements of the application were determined and a design with a 7-step interface was created. In the development phase, the software was developed using Magic Leap One libraries in Unity 3D software development environment. In the test step, two expert nurses performed comparative tests of the traditional V method and VentroSim on 15 participants (30 right hip, 30 left hip). In the study, all injection points detected by the first and second nurse with the VentroSim method were within the triangle area found with the traditional method (V method). There was a statistically significant difference between the injection point found by the nurses with the traditional method (V method) and the injection point found by the VentroSim method according to the mean measurements of the distance to the right and left spina iliaca anterior superior (cm), distance to the top of the triangle (cm) and distance to the base of the triangle (cm) (p<0.05). Accordingly, it was concluded that the prototype of VentroSim was successful in detecting the injection site in the ventrogluteal area. It is recommended to plan studies in which VentroSim is experienced by more nurse users in ventrogluteal injection site detection.
