Effect of vertimax training on agility, quickness and acceleration

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to research the effects of Vertimax training incident to agility, quickness and acceleration. 29 subjects in total participated in the study on a voluntary basis. The subjects were divided into 3 groups in the study as vertimax training group (N =10), classical training group (N = 10) and Control Group (N = 9). A quickness and agility training program was applied to the subjects for 3 days a week for 8 weeks. Vertimax training group performed the training program with the Vertimax device while the subjects in the classical training group carried out the training program without the cited device. The control group did not partake in any program. Pre-test and post-test models were performed utilizing a 4-door photocell and m (photocell with a single door and funnel for agility test) in measurements. Measurements started with approximately 15 minutes warm-up, and acceleration, quickness and agility tests were performed by the subjects. 3 measurements with 3 min rest intervals were taken from each subject and the best score was recorded. 5 m quickness, 10 m acceleration and 15 m acceleration with agility pre-test and post-test values vertimax of group training were established as 1.11 ± 0.06 and 1.06 ± 0.08 s, (P <0.05); 1.82 ± 0.07 and 1.76 ± 0.83 s (P <0.05); 2.52 ± 0.10 and 2.46 ± 0.11 s (P <0.05) and 9.50 ± 0.47 and 9.66 ± 0.47 s (P> 0.05) respectively. 5 m quickness, 10 m acceleration, 15 m acceleration with agility pre-test and post-test values for classical training group are as 1.11 ± 0.06 and 1.07 ± 0.07 s (P <0.05); 1.83 ± 0.05 and 1.78 ± 0.08 s (P <0.05); 2.52 ± 0.05 and 2.48 ± 0.06 s (P <0.05) and 9.99 ± 0 , 05 and 9.86 ± 0.40 h (P> 0.05) respectively. 5 m quickness, 10 m acceleration, 15 m acceleration with agility pre-test and post-test values for control group are as 1.13 ± 0.08 and 1.10 ± 0.07 s, (P> 0.05); 1, 87 ± 0.11 and 1.83 ± 0.09 s (P> 0.05); 2.55 ± 0.11 and 2.54 ± 0.08 s (P> 0.05) and 9.74 ± 0.45 and 9.92 ± 0.49 s (P> 0.05) respectively. As a result, it was seen that quickness and acceleration significantly developed subsequent to the 8-week Vertimax training program while agility development was not significant. It is thought that the training application employed in the study can be utilized for situations that require immediate action and for reaching maximum speed as soon as possible. However, it is also thought that this application does not contribute to the development of movements that require agility. It is thought that Vertimax training can bring vast alternatives and innovation to trainings by using different applications thereof. Key Words: Vertimax, training, quickness, agility, acceleration
