Özet (EN)
The study consists of two stages. In the first stage, the School Children's Attitude Scale towards the Use of Basic Life Support (BLS) and Automatic External Defibrillator (OED), which was developed for children aged 12-15 years, was adapted to Turkish. The sample of the study consisted of 294 students studying in a secondary school in the centre of Tokat. Data were collected with a student information form consisting of 16 questions and an attitude scale consisting of 15 items. The scale consists of 15 statements and four dimensions. Confirmatory Factor Analysis, exploratory factor analysis and Content Validity Index were calculated for the validity of the scale. For the reliability of the scale, Cronbach Alpha reliability analyses, test-retest and item correlation analyses were performed. SPSS 25.0 and Lisrel 8.2 programmes were used in the research. After the first phase of the research was completed, the second phase, in which the same scale was used, started. A quasi-experimental study was conducted to determine the effect of video and Child-to-Child Approach-based first aid training consisting of six weekly sessions on the attitudes of secondary school children towards basic life support and automatic external defibrillator. The sample consisted of students studying in schools selected as intervention (n=24) and control (n=30) secondary schools in the centre of Tokat. Wicoxon sign test, Mann-Whitney U test and effect size were used to analyse the data. As a result of the research, it was concluded that the Turkish form of the Attitude Scale for School Children's Use of CPR and AED was valid and reliable. It was found that the students had a significant difference in children's general attitudes towards CPR and OED, self-confidence and negative attitude sub-dimension. There was a large effect value between the groups in the general sum score (r=-0,58), self-confidence (r=-0,68) and negative motivation (r=-0,55) sub-dimensions. Key words: Child to Child Approach, Nursing, First Aid, Automatic External Defibrillator, Basic Life Support
