The effect of video model aided teching on guitar performance

This research examines the effect of video model aided teaching on performances of classical guitar students at beginner level. The experiment was carried out on experimental and control groups made up of the 3. year students taking ?The Optional Guitar? course given in Abant Izzet Baysal University, Education Faculty Elementary Education and Special Education Programs.The Guitar course was implemented on experimental group and control group with traditional method for three weeks. At the end of this period, audible and visual CDs of the same subject were given to the experimental group students. One week later, performances of experimental group and control group students were recorded with a video-camera. Three different observers evaluated the records by means of observation forms prepared by the researcher. Kendall?s coefficient of concordance was applied for harmony between the observers and Mann Whitney U test was applied for analysis of the obtained data.Research results indicated that the video model aided guitar teaching has a positive influence on holding the guitar, right hand - left hand performances and performances on a monodical piece.Key words: Guitar, Guitar Education, Video Model, Teaching.
