Chair example in life and death dialectic over Vincent Van Gogh and Andy Warhol

This thesis study has tried to focus and explain the painting art which is the explanandum of human being in a dialectics relationship based on life and death themed from Middle Ages. First of all, definition of life and death and importance of them in religions and philosophy in the historical processes of painting art have been examined and tried to rendered. Artistic approach and render manner of sampled artists and art works have been examined based on life and death contrast with descriptive analysis. Moreover, art works of Van Gogh and Andy Warhol with chair theme have been adressed and rendered based on life and death dialectics. It has been attempted to analyze how the life and death theme has been perceived and interpreted in artistic context by two different periods and artists. The important point in this thesis study conducted above context is existentialist interpretation of unknown and unexperienced understandings of life and death relationship regarding different beliefs and philosophic approaches in the art works of artists. Artists who are aware of nothingness and immutability of death despite of the mobility and colorfulness have performed dialectic life and death relationship on their art works regarding their instant period art trend by believing their insights. Death - which constitutes the absence of existence - manifests itself with existential anxiety and extinction fear. Death – which is perceived with finite existence sensually is the basic dynamics of the life and unchangeable destiny of human being. Fear for obscurity of death have rumbled on human being since the early ages in the context of life and death dialectic. Hence, despite of the fact that human being has ignored the death, artists has been not beware of using life and death dialectic in their art works as a theme.
