Abstract (EN)

wind or other vibration sources. Based on the principle of energy conversion, liquid viscous dampers safely control the movement of the structure by converting the motion energy into heat energy with the viscosity of the liquid. The use of these systems is quite common, especially in countries with earthquake risk. It is predicted that dampers, which are not yet widely used in our country, will be preferred more in time. Studies in this field have generally focused on numerical analysis of structures using liquid viscous dampers. However, studies investigating the effect of different damping types and damping ratios in numerical analyses are quite limited. In this thesis, a 5-story steel building subjected to shake table tests is modeled both without and with viscous damping. Time history analysis of the modelled steel buildings are obtained and the results are compared with the experimental results. Additionally, numerical analysis obtained for different damping types and damping ratios are compared with experimental results. Some results about damping type and damping ratio for numerical analysis of steel structures with Viscous fluid dampers have been reached.
