Abstract (EN)
Our country, located on active fault lines, has been shaken by major earthquakes from past to present. According to AFAD data, while 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes occurred at close intervals in Kahramanmaraş these days, 6.4 and 5.8 magnitude earthquakes also occurred in Hatay, independently of Kahramanmaraş. There were difficult times for humanity. In this thesis study, the effects of viscous dampers, one of the earthquake-resistant building design tools, against earthquakes are investigated. Within the scope of the study, a ground + 5-storey building was analyzed in its bare form and with viscous dampers added. Analyzes were made under the influence of 11 different earthquake ground motions. Nonlinear analysis in the time domain was preferred as the analysis method. As a result of the study, it was observed that the seismic forces, floor displacement values and acceleration values acting on the structure decreased with the proposed viscous dampers.
