Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to determine both the intonation problems encountered by intermediate cello students during practice and the self-regulated learning strategies employed; then, to suggest the place of accompanied work in the instrumental studies process by determining its effects on cello students? intonation problems, the self-regulated learning strategies they employ and their views about lessons through the addition of accompaniment to the Accompanied Finger Warm-Ups Method and pieces under study.This study took place with five cello students from the Faculty of Education Department of Fine Arts and Music Education Program at Adnan Menderes University during the 2009-2010 academic year. During the semester, students studied a piece that they had picked up and four or six etudes suitable for their technical levels in their two hours daily study routine. For determining the effects of accompanied studies, in the first six weeks of the semester students studied Feuilliard Daily Exercises, their etudes and their pieces. Then in the second six weeks of the semester students studies the Accompanied Warm-up Studies Method, their etudes and their pieces with accompaniment in the rooms that equipped with sound systems.The effects of accompanied finger warm-ups on the intonation mistakes made by students were determined twice a month (six times in the semester) through a time series experiment design. Their effects on the self-regulating strategies employed by students were determined through observations and meetings which took place at the beginning, middle and end of the semester, and the effects on students? views about lessons were determined at meetings which took place at the end of the semester.Data that acquired from observations and interviews were analyzed in order to the qualitative data analysis techniques. Qualitative data gathered by the structured observation form and structured interview form which were developed by the researcher..The main results of this study are as follows:1.Accompanied finger warm-up exercises were effective in decreasing the number of intonation mistakes made by cello students during the performance of pieces under study.2.Accompanied finger warm-up exercises were effective in developing the self-observation, self-judgement and self-reaction stages of self-regulated learning processes in cello students.3.Accompanied finger warm-up exercises were determined effective in making the instrumental practice processes more enjoyable and more efficient while increasing the amount of time students spent with the instrument.
