Özet (EN)

In this work we are engaged in a critical discussion with Vladimir Nabokov?s (1899- 1977)Lolita: Confessions of a White Widowed Male which was published first in 1955. It shall beshown that the story and the content of the novel cannot be discussed without taking intoconsideration how the novel interacts with its reader. It should be shown that the novel doesnot suggest any message but establishes a framework for its interpretation and its ownreproduction within changing social contexts. The structure of Lolita as well as its maincomponents constitutes the reader as a `reader? while doing this under specific socialcircumstances. Thus, it shall be shown that Lolita can be understood in dividing the work intodifferent levels of interpretation and show that these speak to each other and thus playing withthe reader since the reader seems initially tried to be bound to the surface of the story. But it isnot just the story on the surface but it is exactly the historical context in which Lolita waswritten, its structure as a narrative and the reproduction of Lolita as levels of interpretation, which speak to each other. Lolita does not have a counsel but all the interpretative andreproductive processes are the message itself. This is why Lolita has a relevance and depthbeyond the interpretations on it; it has the force to let itself to be reproduced and understoodin a certain way. It shall be argued that in all its forms of reproduction (reading, interpreting, criticising, printing, filming) lies the main tension of Nabokov?s parody, and that this parodyis embedded in the circulation process of the work; that the circulation itself is a parody ofmimesis of the self-reflexive civilization within which deviation can just be given anymeaning in psychologising the subject matter.
