Abstract (EN)

Vocal nodule is seen usually in females and patients with vocal nodule compose the largest group in voice clinics. The incidence is high in jobs using voice professionally. The temperament, stress and the emotional conditions make change on the voice quality by affecting the physiologic conditions of phonationThirtytwo patients who admitted to ENT Department of Gazi University Faculty of Medicine with voice disorder and between March-June 2007 were included as study group. On physical and stroboscopic evaluation vocal nodule was detected in all patients. The control group was 30 normal subjects who did not complain from voice disorder. The voice records were obtained from all subjects in voice laboratory. After recording voice evaluation form, aerodynamic evaluation (a, s, s/z time), voice handicap index, Rosenbaum?s learned resourcefulness schedule, (RLRS), Temperament and Characteristic Inventory (TEMPS-A) were performed to all subjects. Acoustic analysis was done by using CSL program in MDVP and vocal assessment part from Dr. Speech. The differences for anxiety temperament dimension and investigation of strategies of solving the stress problems were significant between study group and control subjects. The decrease in MPT in study group was significant. There were statistically significant difference in mFo, Jitt, RAP, PPQ, SHdB, Shim, APQ, NHR, SPI parameters from MDVP, Jitter, Shim% from vocal assessment and perceptual evaluation (H, R, B) from Dr. Speech?s vocal assessment analysisWe suggest attaching importance of patient?s temperament and stress factors while evaluating the patients with vocal nodule beside objective acoustic and emotional parametersKey Words: Voice, nodule, voice quality, acoustic voice analysis, temperament, stress, character
