Özet (EN)

Volleyball is a team sport that includes jumping positions with a high dynamism consisting of successive short-term loading and resting phases. As in every sport, the longitudinal arch structure of the foot, the fascia plantaris, the healthy integrity of the muscles and tendons are also important in volleyball. The aim of this study is to reveal the prevalence of pes planus in volleyball players and to compare the measurements obtained by Magnetic Resonance Imaging methods of the foot muscles supporting the fascia plantaris, tendo calcaneus and arcus longitudinalis medialis with those of normal individuals. Cross-sectional area measurement from the widest sections of the bilateral m.flexor hallucis longus, m. tibialis anterior, m. tibialis posterior, m. gastrocnemius, m. abductor hallucis and m. flexor digitorum brevis muscles of 15 female volleyball players and 15 sedentary females who do not do sports regularly, and also of tendon calcaneus and fascia plantaris. thickness measurements were measured by Magnetic Resonance Method. In addition, parameters such as height, weight, foot length, calf and foot circumference were also evaluated anthropometrically. Positive correlations were found between plantar fascia thickness and cross-sectional areas of some muscles. When the cross-sectional areas of the muscles were compared, the cross-sectional areas of the m. flexor digitorum brevis muscle were found to be higher in volleyball players (p<0.05). According to the results obtained from this study, it is thought that the susceptibility of volleyball players to plantar fasciitis and pes planus can be evaluated and exercise programs can be created to strengthen the muscles that support the arcus longitudinalis medialis in this direction.
