Abstract (EN)
Objective: To examine the effect of breastfeeding education program based on Human Caring Theory (HCT) on mothers' breastfeeding self-efficacy, breastfeedıng duration and definitions, and their satisfaction with this education process. Method: It is an experimental study with randomized controlled education intervention. In the first stage of the study, pregnant women in the intervention group (n:50) were based on the HCT, and those in the control group (n:50) were given standard face-to-face education. In the second stage, distant education program based on HCT was given to the intervention group. Regular, systematic, continuous telephone counseling based on HCT was provided to the intervention group, and telephone counseling was provided to the control group when needed. The breastfeeding self-efficacy of the mothers were evaluated with the "Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale", the nutritional status of the baby with the "Baby's Nutrition Assessment Form", and the satisfaction with the education process with the " Watson Caritas Patient Score". Results: Breastfeeding self-efficacy of the intervention group increased more than the control group (p=0.000). While all of the intervention group breastfed their babies until the postpartum sixth month, and the control group until the third month, 96% of them breastfed until the sixth month. In the intervention group, the rates of exclusive breastfeeding in the first week, first third and sixth months and breastfeeding self-efficacy perceptions of mothers were higher than the control group. Breastfeeding problem was experienced less in the intervention group than in the control group, and their babies were more peaceful after breastfeeding, and their babies breastfed more frequently during the day and night. It was found that breastfeeding self-efficacy who exclusive breastfed in sample groups were higher than in other types of breastfeeding than breastfeeding. Mother's breastfeding self-efficacy who watched all videos and follow -up distance education system were found to be higher than those who watched partially/never watched videos. The total score average of satisfaction given to the education program by the mothers in the intervention group is 34.69 ± 0.80. Conclusion: It has been determined that the breastfeeding education program based on HCT has a positive effect on breastfeeding results, and the satisfaction level was high in the intervention group with the breastfeeding education program based on HCT.
