Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of the use of E-Story application, one of the Web 2.0 tools, in Social Studies Course on students' Time and Chronology Perception Skills in terms of various variables. In this context, historical events in the Culture and Heritage learning area within the 6th Grade Social Studies Curriculum were accepted as reference. It is aimed to develop the Time and Chronology Perception Skills of students who create a timeline about historical events in the learning area in question through the E-Story application. A quasi-experimental design was used in the research within the scope of quantitative research method. The study group consists of a total of 43 (EG: 21, CG: 22) sixth grade students studying at a public secondary school in Erzurum city center in the 2023-2024 academic year. Time and Chronology Perception Skill Test (ZKABT) was used as a data collection tool in the research. The data obtained as a result of the application was analyzed using the SPSS 27.0 package program (Independent Groups T-Test). According to the findings obtained as a result of the research, there is no significant difference between the pre-test scores of the experimental-control group students in the Time and Chronology Perception Skill, there is no significant difference between the Time and Chronology Perception Skill post-test scores of the experimental-control group students, and the Time and Chronology Perception Skill of the experimental and control group students. It was determined that there was a significant difference between the Perception Skill pre-post test scores in favor of the experimental group (p.05). As a result of the research, it was determined that the teaching designed with the E-Story application had a positive effect on the students' Time and Chronology Perception Skills, compared to the current program. Teachers are asked about the usability of digital time strips with the capabilities of Web 2.0 tools in the Social Studies course; it is recommended for researchers to conduct comparative studies on the effectiveness of different digital time strips and on the effectiveness of digital time strips and traditional time strips.
