Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of the 10-week Individual and Social Responsibility Model-Based Web-Supported School Health intervention on students' health-related physical fitness parameters, health-related fitness knowledge (HRFK) and physical activity exercise behaviours and to examine their experiences in the 10-week process in depth. Quantitative data were collected through questionnaires with a knowledge test, while qualitative data were collected through focus group interviews, student diaries and field notes. In this context, mixed method was used in the research. Among the mixed method designs, nested mixed design was used. The research group consisted of 52 students aged between 12-13 from two different classes (7th grade) at Mehmetcik Secondary School in the central district of Burdur province in the 2022-2023 academic year, and a doctoral student who implemented the intervention for 10 weeks. The WEDOS application developed for the intervention basically consists of two main parts. The first one is the units part where HRFK is given to the students and the other one is the part where the values of the physical fitness data of the students are entered into the system and exercise programmes are assigned to the students according to these values. The intervention lasted 10 weeks, and when the data collection process was included, the research continued for 14 weeks (4 weeks data collection process). Data were collected through HPAK test, physical activity questionnaire, health-related physical fitness tests (sit-ups, push-ups, flexibility, bmi, endurance), focus group interviews, student diaries and researcher field notes. In the analysis of quantitative data, descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, etc.), Independent Sample T Test and Paired Sample T Test were used. In the analysis of qualitative data, coding and thematic analysis were used. Four themes were formed according to the findings obtained. Theme 1. The Effect of WEDOS on HRFK, Theme 2. The Effect of WEDOS on FAEDDB, Theme 3. Physical Fitness Values and Tests, Theme 4. Outcomes for TPSR. As a result, it was seen that the WEDOS application was an effective approach in terms of using technology with pedagogical foundations in physical education and sports lessons and improving students' health by positively affecting students' HRFK's, physical activity levels, physical fitness and TPSR-based behaviours. For this reason, it is recommended that WEDOS application should be used in physical education and sports lessons to improve health and provide positive behaviour change.
