Teaching Turkish words with foreign-based applications with web-based

In this study, the effect of Turkish vocabulary teaching activities prepared on web based MOODLE teaching management system based on communicative approach on vocabulary learning was investigated. In the study, a pretest-posttest randomized research design with a control group was used. The study group of the study was completed C1 level at Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKU) Turkish Teaching Center (TÖMER) and consisted of 13 students (5 female, 8 male) studying in different faculties in 2018-2019 academic year. 6 of the students were in the control group and 7 of them were in the experimental group. In this study, Word Test which is a data collection tool was used as pre-test and post-test to determine the vocabulary of experimental and control group students. After the pre-tests, the experimental group was presented with virtual dictionaries, exams, gamified activities, paragraphs and dialogue texts for listening and reading. For the control group students, no separate application was made for word teaching. In this process, experimental and control group students continued their education in their departments. At the end of the study, the data obtained from the word test were analyzed in SPSS 22 program. Thus, it was determined whether there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores of the students. At the end of the comparison, significant progress was observed in the experimental and control groups. However, the progression in the experimental group was better than the progression in the control group. According to this result, the activities performed in the experimental group significantly increased the students' vocabulary knowledge compared to the activities in the control group.
