Abstract (EN)

Saving can be defined as the part of individuals' income that is not consumed or spent. In this context; In cases where income levels are maximum and expenditure levels are minimum, people's tendency to save may also be high. However, it would not be the right approach to limit the savings tendency only to income and expenditure levels. This tendency also includes behavioral factors and individual variables. The separation of individuals into X, Y and Z generations is supported by many scientific studies. According to these scientific studies, individuals who have common values, beliefs, expectations and behaviors are included in the same generation classification. Therefore, generations are formed by the combination of different groupings that differ from each other in many ways. This research mainly focuses on evaluating and examining whether the generations in question differ from each other in terms of saving tendencies. The aim of the study is to evaluate the intergenerational saving tendency. The population of the research consists of individuals residing in Ankara. The determined sample size (n= 533) is sufficiently representative of the main population. Questionnaire method was used in the research in order to collect data related to the subject from individuals. SPSS 22.0 package program was used to analyze the obtained data and test the hypotheses. After the reliability analysis to test the reliability of the scale, t test and anova analyzes were used to test the hypotheses. The results of the study show that there is a significant generational difference between the personal characteristics of individuals and their saving tendencies. However, there is a generational difference between the types of savings instruments preferred by individuals and their savings tendencies, and it has been determined that there is a generational difference between X, Y and Z generations and their financial literacy.
