Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to evaluate the population structure of Bucak and Kızılkaya districts in the first half of the 19th century in the context of settlers and nomads. The main research problem of the study is what the similarities and differences are in terms of population, households, age, birth, death and population mobility between settled and nomads. In this context, the arithmetic population density of the settlers is higher than that of the nomads in both periods. When the median age values in terms of the age structure of the population are examined, it is understood that the nomads have a younger structure. In addition, although births and deaths were higher in nomads in 1830, it is seen that population mobility was more common in settled people in both 1830 and 1840. Therefore, there are differences in terms of population and characteristics of the population between the settlers and the nomads in the Ottoman period society. The main reasons for the differences in the Bucak and Kızılkaya districts are considered to be related to the lifestyle of the two population groups, and to the agriculture and livestock activities they lead their lives.
