Özet (EN)

Settlement and population are two of the most important research areas in human geography studies that investigate the spatial aspect of human life. These researches can be done on a contemporary basis or can be done towards the past if the basic source is available. In this context, the thesis aims to reveal the settlement and population situation of Tefenni district on the basis of the information obtained from the 1831 Population and 1845 Temettuat Defters (Book) recorded in the 19th century Ottoman Empire. Tefenni district, which was under the administration of Hamit sanjak during 1831, consists of 18 settlements and 892 households with 1646 male population. When it comes to 1845, it is seen that the number of settlements of Tefenni district increased to 19 when the Kuvat Farm was added as a new settlement unit. In addition, as it is understood from Tefenni Temettuat Defters (Books), Hacı Cafer District is connected to Karamanlı settlement. Although there was an increase in terms of settlement in 1845, it decreased by 2.5% due to migrations and such reasons, and it fell from 892 to 870.
