XVI. th Century is the most developed era for Turkish literature. Along with manyfamous and men of letters educated at this century, it is possible to see the same kind ofdevelopment in Diyarbakır as well. In this century, the poets who are even able to competewith those of ?stanbul have been educated in Diyarbakır.Diyarbakır which had been capital city of many civilizations in history has gone on asa cultural centre during the Ottomans rule as well. Natural results of this situation, manyscientists, poets and artists have been educated in Diyarbakır. There are more than twentypoets of Diyarbakır living in XVI. th century.The most known of these are; ?brahim-i Gülsenî (M.C..940/G.C.1533), Serîfî(M.C.930/ G.C. 1523), Cemîlî (M.C. 870 / G.C. 1543), Sâhî, Mesîhî (M.C.970/ G.C. 1562),Hayalî-i Gülsenî (M.C.977/M.1569), Sühûdî (M.C.980/ G.C. 1572), Halîfe (M.C.986/ G.C.1578), Âmidî (M.C.982 / G.C. 1574), Hâletî-i Gülsenî (M.C.989/ G.C. 1581), Ahmed Pasa(M.C.996/ G.C. 1587), Dervis Pasa (H.998/ G.C. 1589), Mehmet Pasa (M.C.1000/ G.C.1591), Biâtî (M.C.1000/ G.C. 1591), Hûmarî (M.C..1000/ G.C. 1591), Ülfetî (M.C.1000/G.C. 1591), Safvetî-i Gülsenî (M.C.1005/ G.C. 1596), Söhretî (M.C.1014/ G.C. 1605),Tufeylî (M.C.1020/ G.C. 1611), Hasan Gülsenî (M.C.1024/ G.C. 1615), Gubarî (M.C.1034/G.C. 1624), *igâhî (M.C.1060/ G.C. 1650).While the five have divan among the poets we discovered, the rest has just poems. Thetwo of our poems are politicians, the other two are calligrapher, one is a merchant and theother one is a musician. This century was been a century that sects implement very consistentactivities. As a result of this, ?mutasavvıf ?1 poets grown up in Diyarbakir.Furthermore, wehave a poet who interested in public poem. When you observe his poem language it is clearthat parallel developments to Ottoman literacy?s circulations is seen also in Diyarbakır. A lotof Arabic and Persian words are seen in poems. Even the language used in poems iscumbersome; there are poems that been written in public language.In this century that also poems have been written in Azerbaijani dialect, Müsare2 withimportant and famous poets of the cycle have been done and nazires3 have been1 Mutasavvıf: Mystic2 Müsaare: Reciting poems reciprocally3 *azire : Versify of a poem in the same schedule, shape, measure and rhyme as a reply to another poet?spoem by another poet.
