Abstract (EN)

Sadullah GÜLTEN, Yörüks in Western Anatolia, XVI. Century, Ankara, 2008.İn this study, it is dealt that both social, administrative, legal and economic situations and functions, population, passing settled life of semi-nomads known as Yörük in Western Anatolia. The first hand sources used in study are the Otoman Tax Registers recorded for fixing the tax resources in Otoman Empire. However, time of the study is taken form as depending on Ottoman Tax Registers and limited with XVI. century.In Introduction Part, it is completely dealt that historical growth following Turkish conquest in Western Anatolia. In the first part, it is dwelled on historical origin of ?Yörük? and discussed meaning which the same convey by the help of archives documents. Yet, in this part, it is given information about administrative, legal situations, duties of ?Yörüks?. In the second part, by dealing population of Yörüks population distrubition, progress and movement is mentioned. İn the third part, with the process of Yörük?s transfering settled life, it is focused on settling rates according to sancags, also, in this part, Yörüks? summer and winter lives are explained. İn the fourth part, it is told about economic situations and taxes which Yörüks are obliged to pay to goverment. İt is mentioned about relatives community settling in different districts with the same name and Oghuz Tribes among Western Anatolian Yörüks. Besides, in this part, taifes among Western Anatolian Yörüks are brought together with charts by looking at sancags. In the final part, the information acquired after the study is presented as a summary.
