Abstract (EN)
In this study on the subject of Samsun Dock and Economic Function At the Beginning of the XVII. Century In Terms of Ottoman Maritime, firstly, how people?s way of the life and their reactions were influenced by maritime has been studied. Dimentions of Turks? reactions to the sea has also been tried to analized. This point of view helps us to see the prominent Ottoman maritime?s fundamentals and what it means for them until the XVII. century.Afterwards the economical function of Samsun Dock in terms of Ottoman Empire was dealed.In conclusion of study, it can be observed that the most successful and active period of Ottoman maritime, whose base was Anatolian Seljuk and States, was the XVI. century in the portrait it can be seen that Samsun and its dock were neglected until the XIX. century until verses Sinop and Trabzon docks. The most benefit of this dock is ship building and obtaining hemp which is necessary to build ship. It is understood from the sources that the plantation areas of Çarşamba, Terme and Fatsa directly connected to the Royal Dock (Tersâne-i Âmire) under the title of ?ojaklık?.Key Words1. Dock2. Ship3.
