Abstract (EN)

In this study, in Ottoman Empire that underwent a process of change by the end of 16th and by the beginning of 17th centuries, Üsküdar being closest to the Capital City i.e. İstanbul both physically and culturally is tried to be portrayed in the first quarter of 17th century basing on Judicial Records.Judicial Records kept by kadis have been very useful first-hand resources to explain Üsküdar?s economic and social life in the first quarter of 17th century.In this thesis, apart from taxation practices in Üsküdar, jobs, family, woman, trade and slavery, it is also attempted to display the word Üsküdar, its short history till 17th century, the structure of Üsküdar within central organisation, and provincial organization of Üsküdar and officers in that organisation.Key Words1.Üsküdar2.Judicial Records3.Trade4.Slavery5.Economic and social life
