Examination of sexuality perception on the Y generation: The case of İzmir

The turn in sexuality is a phenomenon that can take shape according to geography, religion, culture and sovereignty. This study aims to investigate the sexuality perceptions of Y, the mechanisms underlying sexual perceptions, the treatment of sexuality, and the practices of practice. This study was carried out in İzmir with in-depth interview technique through semi-structured question form with 25 participants born between 1984-1996 of y generation representatives. Sexuality, like gender roles, is an artificial phenomenon, constructed socially and learned in the socialization process. All structures, offenders and actors encountered in the socialization process are influential on the perception of sexuality. While offering family, models; schools give open messages. Peer group evaluation protects barriers against social heresies. Flirting, first sexual intercourse, even sexual violence affirms divisions and identifies sexual stereotypes. Media representations form the desired identity images. Religious and moral and political relations help to regulate adult life styles. In this context, the participants were asked about sexual information, experiences, concepts of honor and virginity, premarital sexual relations, male and female roles, questions about contraceptive practices, and questions about the rhetoric about the younger generation. The obtained data were evaluated and interpreted by descriptive analysis method through qualitative study design.
