ABSTRACTTHE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FOREIGN LANGUAGE ORIENTEDHIGH SCHOOL ELT CURRICULA AND THE FOREIGN LANGUAGEEXAMINATION IN TERMS OF OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTARSLAN, AbdullahM.A. ThesisDivision of Curriculum and InstructionJune , 2005 , iii-xi+ 210 PagesIn this research, when the relationship between ELT curricula? objectives andbehaviors, prepared by Ministry of National Education Council of Training and Precidency,and applied in Foreign Language Oriented High School and behaviors to be measured withthe questions of 2004 in the Foreign Language Examination prepared by Student Selectionand Placement Center is analyzed , it has been concluded that objectives of ELT curricula inForeign Language Oriented High School contrast with their behaviors , in other words,Taxonomy of Cognitive Domain principles are not properly obeyed in writing objectives andtheir behaviors.iIt has also been concluded that the content of ELT curricula in Foreign LanguageOriented High School has been planned according to the learning principle of ?from simple tocomplex? , Spiral-Learning Approach and Student-Centered Learning Approach.When the opinions of foreign language teachers over Foreign Language OrientedHigh School ELT curricula and The Foreign Language Examination are studied, generally ithas been concluded that foreign language teachers do not follow applied ELT curricula atschool , and not have adequate knowledge on Curriculum Development and commonconceptions of it.Key Words : Curriculum Development , The Foreign Language Examination,Objective-Behavior, Content.ii
