Abstract (EN)

In this study, the rhetorical structure features of master theses` Introduction section written in the field of Turkish as a foreign language were investigated through genre analysing which relates to how a text evolves by using the moves and steps framework of Kan (2014) that represents a customized version of Swales' (1990) and Bunton' s (2002) models. This research examines the possible common rhetorical features according to the master theses' academic field. Within this study, 128 master theses written in Turkish language between 2014-2018 in the mentioned field, were totaled from The Council of Higher Education National Thesis Centre and the sample consisted of 96 theses was analysed. As the result of this research, the rhetorical steps and moves of the master theses' Introduction section written in the field of Turkish as a foreign language were analysed, the frequency of their apperance were displayed with their percentage distribution, the circularity of the moves were established and their linguistic aspects were detected. Consequently, the rhetorical structure features concerning Introduction section were specified.
