Özet (EN)

This study aims to develop functional materials for teaching Turkish modality markers {-Abil} and {-mAlI} to the students learning Turkish as a foreign language. In order to achieve this purpose, the present research attempts to find answers to the following questions: 1. How should the functional material be designed for teaching modality markers {-Abil} and {-mAlI} to the students learning Turkish as a foreign language? i) What is the role of communicative approach in developing functional materials for teaching modality markers {-Abil} and {-mAlI} to the students learning Turkish as a foreign language? ii) What is the role of task-based approach in developing functional materials for teaching modality markers {-Abil} and {-mAlI} to the students learning Turkish as a foreign language? iii) What is the role of computer-based technique in developing functional materials for teaching modality markers {-Abil} and {-mAlI} to the students learning Turkish as a foreign language? The present study examined the communicative approaches to foreign language teaching in general and to teaching grammar in particular in an effort to develop functional materials for teaching Turkish as a foreign language. In this study which aims to develop functional material for teaching Turkish as a foreign language, the materials are designed by employing computer-based technique to help both teachers ans students due to the fact that they are easily accessable both v for teachers to use in the classroom and for students to study individually outside the classroom.
