The address forms which are used by people who learn Turkish as a foreign language

Addresses are linguistic structures that are shaped by cultural features, containing elements of politeness and respect, influenced by social phenomena, change and transform with these phenomena, sometimes the initiator of the communication. They attract the attention of the interlocutor, reflect the relationship between the interlocutors, maintain communication, strengthen relationships, etc. Speeches with many functions differ in all languages in terms of quality and quantity, which is due to the respective culture. The fact that there are differences in the use of addresses in cultures and thus in languages has an impact on intercultural interaction situations. Learners who come to Turkey to learn Turkish as a foreign/second language communicate with their classmates as well as with people from the target culture and experience intercultural interaction. In this study, structured face-to-face interviews were conducted with 89 volunteer participants to identify the forms of address used by learners of Turkish as a foreign language in different contexts, as address plays an important role in interpersonal communication. As a result of the research, it was found that age, gender, native language characteristics and cultural differences have an impact on the forms of address used by individuals who are learning Turkish as a foreign/second language.
