Examination of the problems encountered in teaching Turkish as a foreign language in accordance with the instructional views

The fact that Turkish is a language with a large number of speakers and Turkey's political and economic relations with different countries increase immigration or visits to our country. Migrations and visits to our country for various reasons also reveal the need for foreigners to learn Turkish. Especially in recent years, the importance given to teaching Turkish as a foreign language has increased and the institutions serving in this field have become widespread. At the beginning of these institutions are Yunus Emre Enstitüsü, TÖMER, Maarif Vakfı, language courses and Public Education Center. However, there are many problems in teaching Turkish as a foreign language. It is thought that it is important to get the opinions of the teachers who teach Turkish as a foreign language in determining the problems in question. In this context, the aim of the study is to examine the problems encountered in teaching Turkish as a foreign language in line with the views of the instructor and to reach solutions for the problems. The study, which was carried out in line with the related purpose, was carried out with the case study model, which is one of the qualitative research methods. The interviews were carried out with forty-three instructors working in the field of teaching Turkish to foreigners individually at TÖMER, in language courses. Content analysis technique was used to analyze the obtained data. As a result of the research, the most obvious problems are the problems related to materials, language skills and grammar in the process of teaching Turkish to foreigners, the adaptation problem of foreign students, the resources used, the measurement and evaluation tools, the instructor, the use of technology, the classroom environment, and the student characteristics. In line with these results, various suggestions were presented by the researcher.
