In this study the question ?if folk tales can be used while teaching Turkish as a foreign language? was searched.While searching publications and studies about documentary screening method, we noticed that literary texts haven?t been searched sufficiently while teaching Turkish as a foreign language. Literary text has gained importance in through both European Union?s multilingualism and multicultural mentality and it?s adaptation of communicative method as an object for intercultural communication. Literary texts are the best results in which a language is processed and culture accumulation is reflected.Foreign language lessons have been dealed as a way to multiculturalism with the principle of European Union?s upbringing multilingual, multicultural individuals. Foreign language lessons carry a task in upbringing individuals who can tolerate the cultural differences. By this way foreign language lessons, which can contribute to world peace, officiate this duty with authentic texts and especially literary texts.Responsibility on the foreign language lessons and literary texts are required to search which texts, the level and how to study. Using different types of texts in the books is necessary to save the learning from monotony in the foreign language teaching. For this reason we dealed with the folk tales which have never been studied on with teaching Turkish as a foreign language.Folk tales are needed to be simplified like the all other literary texts to provide the educational purposes For this reason we made the Tahir ile Zühre text as a simplified text. As it is a suitable formula for Turkish, we studied the text according to Sönmez model. We noticed that the text?s legibility level is understandable. We used the introductory part of the text as listening part. We used the main episodes part as reading part. We prepared the exercises according to Bloom?s cognitive classification. Our aim is to show the ways of using folk tales for this reason we tried to give exercises for all kind of studies. Exercises weren?t prepared according the lesson duration and they are just suggestions.Turkish folk tales aren?t only culture treasures but also they have attractive contents and they are suitable for improving language skills and comparing cultures by studies which are creative and reproductive. For this reason this study is thought to be an original contribution by using folk tales while teaching Turkish as a foreign language.
