A simplification of story named "Birtakım İnsanlar" by Sait Faik Abasıyanık to B1 level for teaching Turkish to foreigners

In order to use the original texts in teaching Turkish to foreigners, it is necessary to simplify them according to the language level of the student but any change made in the simplification process can cause great damage to the text, so it is important that the text simplification process is performed according to certain criteria. The material issue in the field of teaching Turkish to foreigners could contribute to that thought, the aim of this research Siddharthan (2002), "An Architecture For a Text Simplification System" in accordance with the criteria given in the study of Sait Faik abasıyanık called "Birtakım İnsanlar" called the Istanbul Turkish for foreigners set in the story of European language file and language structures appropriate to the level B1 of the textbook is to simplify. This work is a descriptive field research. The general screening model was used. In this context, the stories in Turkish literature were first examined and a story was selected for the simplification process to be performed at B1 level. After this story has been simplified according to certain criteria, expert opinion has been taken to determine whether the simplified story and the original story overlap semantically and what simplification operations are used and their usage - distribution status has been looked at. The frequency and percentage values of the operations performed at the end of the study were calculated and interpreted. Non-numerical data is reported in writing. The results of the research show that a total of 168 simplification processes have been carried out and that these processes are largely in place and used appropriately. It was also revealed that the most commonly applied process was the lexical replacement process, which was implemented at 23.2%. It was also observed that the semantic structure of the original text was largely preserved in the process of simplification within the framework of expert opinions.
