Adaptation to level B1 as a listening text of myths in teaching Turkish for foreigners

In the field of teaching Turkish as a foreign language, literary texts are frequently used because it is aimed to teach the target culture as well as the target language. However, sometimes the use of literary texts as they are is not suitable for the language level of the target audience.In this case, the original text; It can be edited according to various text adaptation techniques such as simplification, expansion and simplification. In this study, it is aimed to create a listening text source other than the textbook in this field by adapting our legends, which are important carriers of Turkish culture, as listening texts according to B1 language level. During the adaptation process, the grammatical structures in Gazi Tömer B1 Grammar book and the listening skill acquisitions of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages were taken into account. Word Frequency Dictionary of Written Turkish was used for lexical changes.In addition, using listening strategies, activities were designed for the texts before, during and after listening.A Turkish-Turkish dictionary is included at the end of the texts. The adapted texts were voiced and uploaded to social netwok. These can be accessed with the QR codes given under the written versions of the texts. The study was carried out according to the basic qualitative research design. Fifteen legend texts close to the spoken language were selected, which were long enough to be a listening text, were written in standard Turkish, did not include negative examples and slang expressions, were suitable for use as course material, and included the characteristics of the legendary text type, and were sent to three field experts. According to the feedback of the field experts, ten of them were determined and found suitable for use in the thesis. In the study, it is important to have the original and adapted versions of the texts side by side on the same page in terms of observing the changes made. In addition, at the end of the texts, the changes made in each sentence of the original text are explained one by one.
