Abstract (EN)
Migration is a global challenge, with civil society organizations (CSOs) becoming key players in addressing its complexities. Non-governmental organizations (NGOs), as non-profit entities promoting cooperation, are increasingly active in social issues. However, their exact role in migration contexts remains underexplored, requiring detailed research, data analysis, and direct observation. This study focuses on the activities of NGOs involved in Jewish immigration to Israel, aiming to uncover challenges, evaluate their effectiveness, and examine their contributions to policymaking and social integration. A critical gap in the existing literature is the limited exploration of how NGOs directly affect refugees and migrants, as well as how migration impacts NGOs. Country-specific research, especially regarding local and international NGOs in Israel, is similarly scarce. By analyzing the mutual relationship between migration and NGOs, this study will explore both the abstract and tangible impacts of their interactions. Particular attention is given to regions in Israel with high immigrant diversity to understand how NGOs address the needs of Jewish immigrants (olim) and contribute to managing intensive migration flows. This research will also examine the depth of relationships between immigrants and NGOs and their influence on one another. Employing qualitative methods, the study will provide an in-depth analysis of the roles, activities, and effectiveness of NGOs working with Jewish immigration in Israel. It will also evaluate their cooperation with government policies related to migration. By doing so, this thesis will offer valuable insights into the contributions of NGOs to the immigration landscape in Israel and serve as a critical academic resource for understanding the dynamics of migration and civil society.
