Yahya B. Halil çoban Birgivi Fütüvvetnâme (Review - text - index)

The writing date of the work that I studied on hasn't been known exactly. The work called Futüvvet-nâme was written by Yahya b. Halil Çoban Birgîvî. The manuscript registered with the archive number 06 Mil Yz A 4225/1 in the National Library was examined. The work, which does not have any name on its cover, was studied in terms of transcription, review and index. The work is very rich in Arabic, Persian and Turkish words. In the introduction part of the study, fütüvvet, fütüvvetnâme and fütüvvet institutions were defined. The work reflects the Old Anatolian Turkish period in terms of language features. In addition, the work written with naskh (nesih) writing style is legible. The subject headings, the first words, the lines are in red and the endband is dispersed. In our study, the work consisting of 61 leaves was transcribed by giving page and line numbers. The language analysis was carried out through considering the language features of the work. The index section contains all words and phrases in the transcribed text. The words were interpreted as they were used in the text. At the end of the study, a duplicate of the main copy was given in order to enable the control of the transcribed text. It is a remarkable feature that the author skillfully uses words that have the same meaning in Turkish, Arabic and Persian. Considering these features, the work is said to be important for Turkish culture. I presented this study to the benefit of researchers thinking that it would contribute to the world of literature.
