The taxonomic research on predatory mites belonging to Phytoseiidae family detected in various plants in Yalova province

Abstract (EN)
This study was carried out in order to determine predatory mite species belonging to Phytoseiidae (Acari) in different culture plant species in Yalova from June to October of 2020 year. At the end of the study, 162 phytoseiid samples were collected from 31 plant species (plum, blackberry, malt, cherry, walnut, quince, poison ivy, vine, plane, dog currant, yam, eggplant, bean, rose, tomato, kale, persimmon, fig, lemon, hazelnut, apple, cucumber, mulberry, mahaleb, jujube, apricot, pear, cherry, walnut, pepper and melon). Among these mite samples, 10 different phytoseiid species were identified, namely, Euseius finlandicus (Oudemans, 1915), Euseius stipulatus (Athias-Henriot, 1960), Kampimodromus aberrans (Oudemans, 1930), Neoseiulus barkeri (Hughes, 1948), Neoseiulus bicaudus (Wainstein, 1962), Neoseiulus californicus (McGregor), Paraseiulus triporus (Chant ve Yoshida-Shaul, 1982), Phytoseius finitimus Ribaga, Phytoseiulus persimilis (Athias-Henriot, 1957) and Typhlodromus (Typhlodromus) athiasae (Porath and Swirski, 1965). Among these species, the most intensively collected species is P. finitimus and it was determined from pepper, tomato, apple and bean plant species. The second common species is E. stipulatus, which was mostly collected from apple leaves. The most phytoseiid samples were detected late June and late October as a result of samples taken during the cultivation season. This thesis study revealed that Yalova is a very rich region in terms of phytoseiid species used as biological control agents in plant protection.
